Project Summary
We were pleased to have recently worked with Mr & Mrs Gie whilst installing a PV & Battery system for their home in Nottinghamshire. GB Solar designed and installed a high-performance, integrated energy system featuring a 7.76 kWp Solar PV System, composed of 16 high-efficiency 485W photovoltaic panels, paired with a Tesla Powerwall 3 battery storage unit. The Powerwall 3 was specifically selected for its generous 13.5 kWh capacity and its innovative integrated hybrid inverter of up to 11.04kW.
The project began with detailed designs and a quotation from our office team, including a full site survey, structural assessment, and the correct application to the local the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) for grid compliance. This integrated PV and Battery system delivers compelling advantages that far surpass a traditional solar-only setup. While a standard system exports most excess daytime energy to the grid, the inclusion of the Powerwall 3 allows the homeowner to store this energy for peak evening use. This crucial function resulted in an exceptional 75% Self-Consumption Rate for the property, meaning three-quarters of the electricity generated is used directly by the household. This self-reliance translates directly into significant financial protection; by storing and using their own energy instead of buying expensive grid power, the system is projected to achieve a massive 69% Annual Bill Reduction, delivering a 46% Consumption Offset against the home’s total annual energy needs.
The system also offers unparalleled peace of mind; in the event of a power outage, the Powerwall 3 automatically disconnects from the grid and uses its stored energy to keep critical circuits powered, with the solar panels continuing to recharge the battery as long as the sun is shining. By generating an impressive annual output of 4,625 kWh of clean electricity, this homeowner is also making a powerful contribution to a more sustainable energy future.
Our installation team completed this installation within 2 days - commissioning and introducing our client to their management portal before leaving site. Our office team swiftly followed up with a full handover pack and completed the necessary DNO notifications.
