February kicked off with a much welcomed boost to the renewable technologies market, with Battery storage being the latest ESM (Energy Saving Material) to benefit from VAT relief. The UK Government recognised the integral role that battery storage can play in reducing household’s reliance on the grid, and also the financial benefit of storing generated energy.
Whilst Battery storage systems have qualified for 0% VAT when installed alongside a Solar PV system for almost 2 years now, the latest statement now means customers will not pay any VAT on retro-fit batteries or stand-alone storage installs from 1st February 2024.
